Rights Cover Smart Connectors and Other Computer Communications and Interconnectivity
Hardware Components and Devices
MONSEY, NY, February 19, 1997 - Acticon Technologies,
a Division of General Patent Corporation International
("GPCI"), has acquired a one half interest
in three important connector patents from Anico Research,
Ltd., a Mt. Kisco, NY R&D company. GPCI is a technology
transfer company headquartered in Monsey, NY.
The transaction included purchase of the remaining
50% rights to three patents, including the "Connector
Interface", U.S. Patent # 4,603,320; "Multiple
Connector Interface", U.S. Patent #4,686,506 and
the "Programmable Connector Interface", U.S.
Patent #4,972,470. Devices covered by these patents
include smart connectors, PCMCIA modems and PC combo
cards among others.
"General Patent Corporation International, a technology
transfer company, is in an excellent position to license
our technology and enforce our rights under these patents,"
said Steven Farago, the inventor of the patented smart
connectors and President of Anico Research, Ltd.
Last year GPCI settled its dispute with Rapitech Systems,
Inc. over the initial 50% stake in some of these patents.
The acquisition from Anico consolidates GPCI's interest
in the technology, giving it 100% rights in these patents.
"These basic patents, together with the other
patents related to PCMCIA modem technology owned by
GPCI, give us a strategic position in the growing PC
Card and Smart Connector industries," said Dr.
Alexander Poltorak, chairman and CEO of GPCI.
